The Elephant is serving French-Thai fusion food. This is a truly extraordinary place among all restaurants in New York. It’s very small and usually packed with people, every single day of the week. But that only adds to the character of the Elephant – just make sure you’re not starving right away and you’re bringing enough time for a drink at the bar, while the manager is working to get you a table.
Unless you’re really lucky, it might take half an hour to get you seated. But the time at the bar is well spent. The bartenders are extremely nice and are doing an amazing job with their cocktails. And then…when you made it to a table, embrace yourself…the food is just awesome!!!

Oh, forget about making reservations. They’re never able to hold them.

Florent is a very old classic in the Meatpacking District of New York, which is now becoming a very fancy neighborhood. The Florent originally used to be open 24 hours to serve the workers of the area, but this was supposed to change recently. Inside the long chrome styled bar gives it a kind of a diner-style feeling, although it really is a very good restaurant. The food is delicious and most amazingly coordinated in the kitchen: even if you’re a party of six or seven people, all ordering different dishes you can be sure you’ll get all appetizers together and all main courses served at the same time. I have to mention that, as this expresses my biggest respect for the dedication of the staff towards both the food and the guests. You’ll love it!

Gitane is a neighborhood icon of SoHo. With a name like the French cigarette brand it happens to be a very tiny French-Moroccan restaurant with a small bar and a few tables. They only serve small dishes, which are prepared right at the bar, so very extraordinary and delicious that you might never have had anything similar before. The atmosphere is very relaxed and friendly throughout the entire day. The Gitane is always very pleasant and colorful, in the evenings as well as in the afternoons. We like it a lot!

Are you in for the best pizza of New York? Stop searching. Leave Manhattan and stop at Grimaldi’s in Brooklyn, right underneath the Brooklyn Bridge. Prepare for one of the best pizzas ever, served at tables with the classic red-white checkered tablecloth of typical Italian trattorias. A great deal of celebrity- and Frank Sinatra pictures on the walls might give you a hunch of being in an old mafia place.

Usually it’s very unpredictable how busy it is and it might happen you have to wait a while to get a table. In any case my recommendation is to walk over to Grimaldi’s on the footpath of the Brooklyn Bridge. It will give you the most amazing views of Manhattan and enough appetite to finish a large size pizza all by yourself :-)

Jerry’s Diner really is a SoHo restaurant decorated in a 50’s diner style, complete with the mandatory chrome bar and table booths. It is too beautiful to be one. Without doubt Jerry’s pleasant atmosphere is the reason we like to show here often. The variety of dishes is great and their delicious flavors make you sink deeply into the couch of your booth. Celebrate casual dinners with friends or enjoy a good meal during any time of the day in SoHo.

One can’t imagine New York without Katz’s Deli. From Harry and Sally to Bill Clinton – everybody has been here and everybody wants to see it. One hasn’t been in Manhattan without knowing Katz’s. Imagine a large bright dining hall with hundreds of pictures on the walls and a long self-serve counter, famous for it’s sausages, pickles, salamis and pastrami sandwiches…definitely not the right place for vegetarians, but awesome, and perfect for a big appetite.

My personal choice is pastrami on rye bread, some kosher pickles and a beer. Just perfect. Here’s a tip: The sandwiches are so big, you better share one with a friend. Dig in and enjoy!

Kelly&Ping is an Asian restaurant in the heart of Soho, serving simple and delicious dishes from Korea, Vietnam, China and Thailand. It’s the perfect place for stopping by at any time of the day to have a bite. The open kitchen and the beautiful decoration are giving it a very nice and authentic atmosphere, while the bare brick walls give it the typical New York style.
Shoppers, students and tourists – this is our place of choice to get nice food at a great price!

Loreley7 Rivington Street, New York NY 10002 Click this icon to see some

Loreley dedicates its German heritage to the city of Cologne and the area of the River Rhine.
Following local tradition the beers from Cologne are served in tiny glasses, which you keep drinking in quite some numbers throughout the evening. That’s different from the Bavarian beers, which are served in large glasses or steins.
Loreley has a great deal of German beers and dishes from both areas. The dishes of course aren’t gourmet food, but of very decent German home cooking. That’s what makes Loreley very down to earth and a great location for nice evenings with your friends…sitting, eating and drinking all night long! Check out the nice beer garden in the backyard, that’s where you find us in summer.

Mercer Kitchen already sounds like a great place and it truly is. Right at the corner of two busy streets in SoHo it is an absolute prominent and beautiful restaurant. The fact that it got more quiet about this place adds to its character tremendously. The absence of any former pretentiousness allows you to enjoy its beauty and atmosphere. The dishes are wonderful and we absolutely fell in love with the delicious chocolate cake.

Natori58 St. Marks Place, New York NY 10003 Click this icon to see some

Natori looks like a simple Japanese take-out, just without people standing in line waiting for their orders to be ready. If you can live without candlelight atmosphere, this is the place to get some of the best sushi you’ll ever get. Don’t forget to try the alligator meat and the variety of traditional Japanese dishes. Although Natori has a very simple interior it makes you feel very comfortable. Guests are young, many of them Japanese – which speaks for itself and makes it a very authentic place. The service is always extremely nice and very pleasant.

Don’t get confused - Natori actually has two entrances into two different dining rooms, even though it is the same restaurant and the same kitchen. I always prefer the left one.
